CONFIDE
Symptom Impact and Experience
Key findings from the CONFIDE US dataset:
- Data collected included perspectives on the experience and impact of symptoms in patients with moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis (UC)1
- To identify symptoms, patients were asked to select from a list of 30 symptoms, some of which include: diarrhea, bowel urgency, increased stool frequency, urge incontinence, persistent abdominal pain, and bowel urgency related accidents.1-4
- Diarrhea, bowel urgency, and increased stool frequency were experienced by most patients with UC1
- Bowel urgency and fear of urge incontinence were the most reported symptoms leading patients declining participation in social events, sports/physical exercise, and work/school2
- A large proportion of the surveyed patients reported wearing diapers/pads/protection in the past three months due to fear/anticipation of urge incontinence3
- More than three quarters of female patients and more than half of male patients reported avoiding or decreasing sexual activity due to their UC4
Patient survey questions
1. Which symptoms do you currently suffer from (that is over the last month)?
2. Which symptoms have you ever suffered from?
Use of diapers, pads or other protection in the last three months due to fever/anticipation of bowel-urgency related accident
Patients who declined participation in activites in the past 3 months due to bowel urgency
Among patients who reported avoiding or decreased sexual activity (n=126), top reasons for avoiding sexual activity in the past 3 months
